Cast a Spell On Life

Dear Readers, Thank you for subscribing to The Spark.

My name is Casey Hersch. I am a licensed clinical social worker and founder of LightYourSparkle.Life. As many of you know, I live with autoimmune

illnesses and have a history of childhood trauma, which are my inspirations for the Light Your Sparkle community.

When I was a little girl one of my favorite playtime activities was pretending I was a good witch. In this imaginary role, I was powerful and in total control of my life. I created magic potions which tranformed insensitive adults and bullies into harmless and loving animals. I cast spells to transport me into a safe home environment with two nurturing parents, and I waved my magic wand to bring presents from my wish list. When I felt sad or alone, I cast a spell on my life every time I discovered a new coping skill and felt empowered over a difficult situation.

Just recently, I thought about the ways I still cast spells on my life and bring positive changes into my world. As an adult I don't need a magic wand because I am completely in charge of my choices and life. Whether I am learning something new, shifting my thoughts to attract more positive energy into my life, or making dietary changes, I am casting spells on my life. I am imagining a new outcome, holding a vision for myself, and participating in what manifests in my life.

Use Your Imagination, Play, and Relax

When we play and embrace the whimsical spirits inside all of us, we immediately cast a spell on our mood and feel better. Likewise when we take a hot bath or create an ambiance in our home through decorations, cooking, or music, we provoke a safe and relaxed response in our minds and bodies.

These DIY spells are whimsical, creative, and FUN! Whether you just read them and imagine a new outcome for your life or if you go on a hunt for the ingredients to brew your own concoction, you will be under a spell before you know it!

The Freedom of Being Nobody

I have spent most of my life regretting what I did not complete, wishing I were someone else, criticizing my body, and defining myself by my accomplishments and praises. Have you ever imagined what it would feel like to wave a magic wand and let go of all these expectations, definitions, and societal pressures? What if we focused on how to be nobody rather than somebody?

The Magic of Self-Healing

When you live with chronic health problems, the search for solutions can be exhausting. However, when you find a protocol or formula that works for your body's unique needs, it can feel like magic! Sometimes you don't know exactly how or why an intervention works but you just know it does. I am constantly transforming my health goals and protocols. Exposing myself to new ways to heal from the inside out allows me to rid myself of the "spells" that are not working and cast new spells that help. In this interview with best selling author Dr. David Perlmutter, he shares his approach to health and longevity
